2-Day Sat & Sun Ticket-holders will not be allowed into the campgrounds and parking areas until 8:00 am on Saturday, July 4.

All vehicles and persons must exit the venue by Monday, July 6th, at 1:00 PM

We ask that you come prepared to keep your car parked at your campsite throughout the festival. However, for those who need to exit the festival grounds, please know that your car will be subject to search upon re-entering the camping area.

The nearest shopping is miles away and walking is discouraged.

If you are staying off site, you will be able to come and go throughout the weekend. You must park in Day Parking. Each time you return, your vehicle will be subject to search.

Set times will be posted on this website as the festival date approaches.

The event schedule will also be posted throughout the festival grounds. Please take the time to explore ROTHBURY, as there are some things happening that will not be posted, and will be exciting to find on your own.

Historically, the town of Rothbury receives very little rain during the month of July, and temperatures hover around 65 - 80 degrees F during the day, 55 - 65 degrees F during the night. But please come prepared for all kinds of weather.

All photo and press credentials will be issued by Madison House Publicity. If you are a member of the press on assignment and are looking to request a photo pass, please email publicity at rothburyfestival dot com.

We have Work Exchange opportunities for our Green Team. Visit the Tap In section on this website for Work Exchange Program details

No, there is no unauthorized solicitation on the grounds or in any of the parking lots/camping areas.

There will be a variety of food/beverage and crafts vendors throughout the festival site.  Food vendors, which will include organic and vegetarian options, will use only compostable serving materials.

You can get a vending application by e-mailing foodvending at rothburyfestival dot com or craftvending at rothburyfestival dot com.

You can find help for your car at the ROTHBURY information booth located near the General Store.  Check your festival map for exact locations.

We ask of you: follow the instructions that are given out, follow the signs to the parking areas, be kind to your neighbor, and come prepared for a weekend of fun.

If you're biking to ROTHBURY, cool!  Bicycles are allowed at ROTHBURY.  Those on bikes will check-in at Toll Booths, just like everyone else. There is bicycle parking between the General Store and the barn, where you can lock your bike.  Bicycles should be parked and left for the duration of the event and not used as transportation. Bicycles will not be permitted inside of the Festival venue (Past bottle-check).

        TICKET FOR GOOD

ROTHBURY is guided by a bold sustainability mission. In addition to offsetting our own production, we wanted to offer fans the opportunity to offset their own travel impact. Healthy communities are built through responsible citizenship. It is our hope that the citizens of ROTHBURY will embrace this easy ‘one click’ opportunity to offset their travel to ROTHBURY.

Some people are able to give more than others. It is our hope that everyone will be excited to at least offset themselves. For those who can do more, we offer the chance to be a part of something even bigger – contributing to ROTHBURY’s Sustainable Schools Program and ROTHBURY’s Music in Schools Program.

We are all directly and indirectly responsible for pollution. We live in our homes, drive our cars…and these activities put carbon into the atmosphere. In a nutshell, whatever pollution you add to the atmosphere, you can subtract by purchasing offsets. When you purchase these offsets, the money goes to programs that will reduce carbon in the future. You can choose to offset in a number of ways. ROTHBURY has chosen to reduce our carbon by donating to the development of new wind farms.  The best way to deal with carbon is to create less of it in the first place (carpool, ride a bike, use solar, biodiesel, etc). But for those items which you can not change, offsetting is, in effect, a way of balancing out that which you create.

ROTHBURY estimated our attendee travel as follows:

        • 30% of attendees driving 200 RT miles / 2.5 attendees per car
        • 50% of attendees driving 500 RT miles / 2.5 attendees per car

        • 20% of attendees flying 2,500 RT miles / via commercial airline

Our collective carbon created will depend on how many attendees we have. However, based on this model above, our individual carbon output will remain the same regardless of how many people attend. Individually, we are estimating under .3 short tons of carbon per person, which $3 per person will safely cover. If any funds remain from this estimate, they will go to our Sustainable Schools Program and Music in Schools Program.

ROTHBURY has chosen to offset our carbon by working with Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF) to donate to the development of a new wind farm in the Midwest called Tananka. To read all about Tanaka, click here

There are a number of easy to use Carbon Calculators on the web. Here are a few links to help you get started:

        W.E.P. - GREEN TEAM

In order to join the team, you will need to visit our Green Team Ticketing Area and pay for a special, fully refundable ticket with a credit card. Please note that these are not normal tickets, and normal tickets are not refundable. The Green Team ticket deposit is the same price as the general ROTHBURY Weekend Ticket - $249.50. This provides us assurance that you will likely show up and complete all three of your shifts. If you do, your credit card will be refunded immediately after the event. If you don’t, it won’t. Additionally, there is a $30 non-refundable processing fee. This fee covers the costs of running the volunteer program. When you are ready to join the team, you will go to the special Green Team ticketing site, and your card will be charged $279.50 ($249.50 + $30). After you complete your shifts, you will be refunded $249.50.  But please do not buy a normal ticket, as we cannot refund those. For more information on joining the team, and to get to the special ticketing area, please visit our Greening Partners info page at www.spitfireagency.com/rothbury

        •    You will be 18 or older by July 1, 2009
        •    You are willing to work three shifts, approx 5-7 hours in length
        •    You are excited to work with a team
        •    You don’t mind getting your hands dirty (really dirty!)
        •    You are organized, responsible, trustworthy, on time
        •    You take your commitments seriously
        •    You have a genuine interest in being a part of a green event, and healthier world

The GREEN TEAM is ROTHBURY’s only Work Exchange Program. We have Green Team opportunities around the clock during the event, as well as during set-up & teardown days. Here’s a glimpse of some of the shifts we have:

        • Pre-event set up: building waste recovery stations, hanging signage, etc.
        • Manning waste stations: helping the public understand which items go in which cans & why (compost, recycling, trash)
        • Collecting trash on the grounds (line sweeping by hand)
        • Resorting recycling at our behind the scenes Waste Recovery Compound
        • Post-event tear down: taking down signage, working with charities to divert waste into donations, line sweeps, re-sorting camping waste, etc.

After you have paid your special Green Team Ticket deposit, you will be sent a password to our self-serve on line scheduling system. Passwords will be issued in the same order that you paid your ticket deposits. This means that the sooner you pay your deposit, the better the chances are that you will get the three shifts you most desire. Please keep in mind that we cannot promise any particular shifts, nor can we promise that you will be able to work pre or post event, with a certain friend, etc. This is a first come, first serve system – if the shifts are open when you get your password, they are yours to select.

We cannot promise that you will be able to work with a certain friend. This is a first come, first serve system – if the shifts are open when you get your password, they are yours to select. Best bet if you want to work together is to sign up early and then select shifts together over the phone. However, even if you select the same days & times as your friend, please keep in mind that you will likely be split into different areas of the event. There are very few roles in pairs, almost all jobs are individual jobs.

Not at this time.  Visit back for potential updates.

You will need to view our Volunteer Agreement, and if you agree, then you will need to buy a special Green Team ticket (not a normal ticket). Please visit our Greening partners website for all details on how to do this: www.spitfireagency.com/rothbury.

        W.E.T. - SITE OPERATIONS

WET stands for Work Exchange Team. The Work Exchange Team in volunteer program that helps staff ROTHBURY's Site operations.

The WET will help with ROTHBURY's site operations. The Green Team is dedicated to helping execute ROTHBURY's Sustainability mission.

You must first fill out an application.  You must pay a $30 application processing fee before you fill out your application.  This fee is 100% refundable if you DO NOT get accepted, however if you are accepted, the fee is non-refundable. Once your application is received, processed and approved, you must put down a $250 deposit (the “day of show” ticket price, including camping).

Applications to become a WET member for ROTHBURY are available here.

All applicants will be notified within three weeks of applying whether they have been accepted or not.  Once you are accepted, you still have to put down your deposit to retain your spot.  Once your deposit is run (about 14 days prior to the festival) you will receive a confirmation email.

When you receive your acceptance email, you will be asked to put down a deposit via our secure online merchant account.  You must put down a deposit by the deposit due date in order to secure your spot, and may lose your spot to our waiting list if you enter the numbers incorrectly or enter a card that does not have sufficient funds at the time of our transaction (about 14 days prior to the festival weekend).

You must complete all of your assigned shifts in order to receive your deposit back.  If you are reprimanded for any reason, be it tardiness to your shift, improper behavior of any kind, influence of drugs or alcohol, failure to sign in or out of your shift, your deposit may be forfeited.  If you complete all of your assigned shifts without reprimand, you will receive your WET deposit within 14 days of the festival.

If a WET coordinator feels that a WET member is under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the WET member will be relieved of duties and their WET deposit will be forfeited, along with any future opportunity with WET. Absolutely no exceptions will be made.

As you fill out your application, you will be able to select the band that you do not want to miss the most.  We will do our best to schedule you around this time slot, but the integrity of the festival comes first, of course.  Please note that many night shifts are located inside the music festival concert area.

Potential WET members should mark on their applications to signify whether or not they will be available to work before or after the festival starts. You will be notified if we have a pre festival position available.  Please note that this does not mean that you will complete all of your shifts before the festival starts.  You may be required to also work during the festival.

Schedules are determined by festival labor needs, past experience, friend requests, band requests and any other appropriate factors.  You must expect to work at lease one night shift during the festival.  Unless you have been requested by a specific department, please do not email us requesting certain shifts or departments.

ONLY credit cards/check cards will be accepted. If you don't have a credit card, we suggest you ask either your parents or a friend to put the deposit down for you.

Regular festival attendees may NOT enter the festival grounds prior to the official opening of the gates to patrons, even if accompanied by a working WET member.  If you are scheduled for a pre festival shift, please be sure to make travel arrangements with other WET members, as your Non-WET friends will not be allowed to enter the festival grounds until gates open to the public.

Attendance at orientation is mandatory.  We will provide one orientation on the Wednesday of the festival and one the Thursday of the festival.  You will be sent information regarding orientation meeting times and places in your acceptance letter.

On site camping with basic port-o-let facilities will be provided at no charge to WET members.  Please visit each festival’s travel section for information on local hotels if you prefer to stay in one, but be advised that we do not provide shuttles or transportation of any kind.

        sustainability

ROTHBURY is a festival that aims to have minimum impact on our planet, while having a major impact on its people. ROTHBURY is dedicated to running as close to a zero-waste event as possible. You can check out all details in our Sustainability Mission, by clicking HERE.

ROTHBURY is committed to reducing waste in every choice that we make. We will reduce carbon by reducing energy, and by supporting clean bio-energy. We will reduce trash by only using compostables, composting on site, and making this compost available to the local farmers for free. ROTHBURY is looking for the most ecologically & socially beneficial choices available to us in all that we do…from the stage construction, on down to the TP in the porta-potties. Want to make a suggestion for how to be a greener event? greening at rothburyfestival dot com.

Yes. ROTHBURY will provide full-service recycling throughout the festival grounds. All recycling can be mixed except paper and cardboard. That means plastic bottles and aluminum cans may all go in the same bin (please remember there is no glass allowed on the site).  Anywhere you see a trash can at ROTHBURY, you will also see recycle cans. Easy! Each will be labeled clearly, so please be sure to pause, read them, and select accordingly. Please recycle whenever possible!

Yes. Those paper-looking plates you are eating from? They are really sugarcane, and are compostable. Same with the beer cups – they look like plastic, but they are made from corn. In fact, every food service item handed to you will be made from plant-based sources and will end up in the local soil on the farm. ROTHBURY will provide hundreds of Waste Reclamation Pods inside the festival grounds, for your convenience. Each pod will have 3 well marked cans - one for composting, one for recycling & one for trash. At ROTHBURY, you will never see a trash can by itself – there is always a better option available. However, due to the difficulty with compost tainting at such a large event, we will not have compost cans inside the camping areas, because those cans can’t be ‘manned’ (and any tainting means that ALL of our compost is turned away, which we are not willing to risk).

ROTHBURY is run on a variety of Green Energy sources including biodiesel, solar, human energy and more. The festival is primarily run on generators with various mixes of biodiesel, depending on what they are powering. Most of our light towers, trailers and other infrastructure generators run on B100 made from a recycled waste product of Ethanol, thanks to Michigan’s own Next Diesel. We use a blended mix of biodiesel and standard diesel fuel for our stage generators, that blend ranges from B20 (20% biodiesel) to B100 (100% biodiesel). We also use solar in a variety of areas including our cell phone recharging station and some art installations. And human power is also used for much of the art. Lastly, we offset the festival, including flights, automobiles, etc, with wind energy from a nearby Midwest Wind Farm, thanks to our non profit partners Bonneville Environmental Foundation.

Rothbury is a beautiful area full of farms, lakes, and a lot of greenery.  Please respect our Rothbury neighbors. When traveling through the town, if you are tired/late/etc, please remember to be friendly ~ they are our hosts, and we want to be gracious. Please keep local gas station bathrooms clean, and tie down any trash you might be transporting, etc. Another great way to assure that the town of Rothbury welcomes us long term, is to help their local economy thrive. Please try and fuel up locally, fill your coolers locally, etc.
Chances are that your travel will have an impact on the environment. ROTHBURY encourages all attendees to offset their travel, just as we are. Check out our Ticket for GOOD options for details.

If you drive a biodiesel vehicle, no doubt you will be looking to fuel up in the area. Our friends at the Nation Biodiesel Board have put together this comprehensive list of fueling stations throughout the state of Michigan, for your convenience. On their site, you can look for stations in any other states you will be driving through as well. Just be sure to call the locations before showing up, as things do change and we wouldn’t want you to get stuck!
